The Presence of Christ Makes Resurrection Predictable...v 23

(Joh 1:4)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

(Joh 14:6)  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(Joh 5:26)  For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

(Mar 12:26)  And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

(Mar 12:27)  He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living...

The Power of Christ Makes Resurrection Possible...v 22

From the beginning, it has been mankind's ultimate & greatest quest to conquer or cheat death! Today, the global healthcare industry is approaching $7 Trillion. For 4000 years, there was only failure after failure.

Jesus alone has conquered death! For 2000 years, we have celebrated His resurrection!

Note in verses 15 & 21 that in the absence of Christ, death dominates; but in the presence of Christ, death is conquered!
Death is brought into subjugation to the Son of God!

(Isa 25:8)  He will swallow up death in victory...for the LORD hath spoken it.

(1Co 15:54)...then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

(Act 2:24)  Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

According to Scripture, it is impossible for Christ to be held by death's bonds. Jesus was loosed & lifted by His Father! He was unshackled, unchained, unbound, & unlocked...however you wish to say it, Christ could not be conquered by death! Death was conquered by Jesus!

Jesus is the ONLY WAY to conquer death!

DO NOT meet death without Jesus!

On a humorous note...The Resurrection is not a Zombie Apocalypse!  Scripture indicates that the effects of sin's curse upon our bodies is to be removed. Our bodies will be transformed from corruptible to incorruption! Our flesh will not exhibit any effects of disease or ageing...

 (1Co 15:52)  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

(Job 33:25)  His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:

(Joh 10:10)  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

So, if you see someone at church aimlessly & stiffly stumbling about and mumbling's likely just a church deacon, not a zombie!

The Proclamation of Christ Makes Resurrection Personal...vv 25 & 43

Note that Jesus proclaimed, "I AM the Resurrection".

The resurrection is not just a promise.
The resurrection is not just an event.
The resurrection is not just a doctrine.

The Resurrection is a Person!

Jesus IS the Resurrection!

This is born out in Scripture by the use of two different Greek words in vv 43 & 44 -

v 43 - "Come forth" (duero) which means "come here" is an imperative - Jesus is commanding, "Come to Me".
v 44 - "Came forth" (exerchomai) which means "to exit" is an indicative - a simple statement that Lazarus came out of the tomb.

Lazarus was not raised in order to come to Jesus, He was called to come to Jesus & then raised.
Coming to Jesus empowered him to rise from the grave!
We are not resurrected in order to come to Jesus. We come to Jesus in order to be empowered to be participants in resurrection!

(Act 4:12)  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
(1Jn 5:11)  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
(1Jn 5:12)  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

(Joh 5:39)  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
(Joh 5:40)  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Coming to Jesus is simple...simply hear and receive the Gospel.

(1Co 15:1)  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(1Co 15:2)  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(1Co 15:3)  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(1Co 15:4)  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Christ Jesus was sent by His Father to be a sacrifice for our sin.
He was crucified, buried, and resurrected!

Whosoever turns (repents) from trusting in their own efforts (works) to save themselves, to confess and trust in Christ and His righteousness, will be saved!
(Rom 10:9)  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(Rom 10:10)  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Proof that one's sins are forgiven and trust has been placed in Christ as Savior is in confessing Him to others.
(Mat 10:32)  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

If you have yet to trust Him, do so today...Confess, believe, and live forever!

DO NOT meet death without Jesus!

(Gal 2:20)  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
